Subject: DPER Book Series SPECIAL OFFER announcement
Dear Colleagues:
Apologies for the cross-posting, as a similar email has gone to the
Paleolimnology Listserver last week, and perhaps forwarded to others as
well. With permission of the listowners, we are sending this special offer
to the Quaternary and Diatom listservers for a special offer on a new
book series.
As many of you may know Kluwer Academic Publishers has begun a new
monograph series: Developments in Paleoenvironmental Research, with John
Smol and William Last as series editors.
The first 4 volumes of this new series, all dealing with
methodology/techniques in paleolimnological and related research, are now
in the final production phase. The titles of the completed volumes are:
Last, W.M. and Smol, J.P. [Editors]. 2001. Tracking Environmental Change
Using Lake Sediments. Volume 1: Basin Analysis, Coring, and Chronological
Techniques. Kluwer Academic Publishers, Dordrecht.548 pp.
Last, W.M. and Smol, J.P. [Editors]. 2001. Tracking Environmental
Change Using Lake Sediments. Volume 2: Physical and Geochemical Methods.
Kluwer Academic Publishers, Dordrecht. 504 pp.
Smol, J.P. Birks, H.J.B., and Last, W.M. [Editors]. 2001. Tracking
Environmental Change Using Lake Sediments. Volume 3: Terrestrial, Algal,
and Siliceous Indicators. Kluwer Academic Publishers, Dordrecht.371 pp.
Smol, J.P. Birks, H.J.B., and Last, W.M. [Editors]. 2001. Tracking
Environmental Change Using Lake Sediments. Volume 4: Zoological
Indicators. Kluwer Academic Publishers, Dordrecht.
The DPER web page at
http://home.cc.umanitoba.ca/~mlast/paleolim/dper.html
and provides detailed table of contents for each volume (as well as other
information about the DPER series).
Kluwer is offering a special pre-publication price of $45US (EUR 50.00)
per volume (including postage & handling!). Given the size & magnitude of
these books (hardcover; profusely illustrated; total of ~1700 pages), we
view this offer as excellent. The details of this offer, including the
required order form, are available on the web at the url listed above.
IMPORTANTLY, to take advantage of this offer, you MUST order before MARCH
1, 2002, and only credit card orders will be accepted. (Please note: the
order form must be completed & faxed to Ms Judith Terpos, NOT to us!)
Please contact us if you have any questions or if you would prefer us to
email you the order form. We hope you all will be able to take advantage
of this remarkable offer.
Cheers
John & Bill
p.s. We have posted this on several listservers but please circulate to
any colleagues you feel might be interested. This offer is open to anyone,
but it does end March 1/02.
