Call for papers: CRC LEME Regional Regolith Symposia
Regolith 2004
The Cooperative Research Centre for Landscape Environments and Mineral
Exploration (CRC LEME), Australia, is pleased to announce three
symposia
highlighting the state of regolith research in 2004. These symposia
will be
held over three weeks in three separate cities:
* Central Symposium: University of Adelaide, Adelaide SA, 10-12
November 2004
* Western Symposium: Curtin University of Technology, Perth WA,
18-19
November 2004
* Eastern Symposium: Australian National University, Canberra
ACT,24-26
November 2004
Each symposium will address the strategic themes of CRC LEME, which
include:
* Improving our understanding of regolith processes and landscape
evolution;
* Making exploration geochemistry work through cover;
* Developing geophysical techniques to interpret regolith
architecture;
* Using regolith knowledge to enhance prospectivity in geological
regions;
* Developing methods to map and predict salinity with outcomes
linked
to mitigation and remediation.
Plus, additional special themes will be addressed at separate sites:
* Microbiology of the regolith (Adelaide);
* Mineral exploration under cover (Perth);
* Natural Resource Management and the regolith (Canberra);
* Hydrogeochemistry in the regolith (incorporating NRM and Mineral
Exploration) (Canberra);
* The history of aridity in Australia (Canberra);
* Mineral exploration in eastern, central and western Australia
(Canberra, Adelaide and Perth, respectively).
Presenters are invited to submit papers addressing the strategic or
special
themes by COB 24 September 2004. Early registrations are invited before
Friday 29th October, after which the price goes up!
Abstract submission and registration details are available on the CRC
LEME
WWW site at http://crcleme.org.au/ or from the Supervising Editor and
Canberra Convener, Dr Ian Roach (see below).
We hope that you can join us at one of the venues and make Regolith
2004
even more successful than the 2003 symposia, which attracted 106
presenters
over 7 days in three cities!
With best wishes,
Ian Roach,
Supervising Editor and Canberra Convener
