POSITION: Sesqui Lecturer in Australian Archaeology

The School of Philosophical and Historical Inquiry invites applications
from suitably qualified individuals for a Sesqui lectureship in Australian
Archaeology. Applications are encouraged in the areas of prehistory and
contact archaeology. The appointee will be required to develop and teach
new units in Australian archaeology and practical work to complement the
department's undergraduate and postgraduate teaching curriculum and
programmes. The appointee will assist with team-teaching of junior level
introductory archaeology and Honours and Postgraduate level archaeological
theory and research methods units, in addition to conducting their own
research.
Essential criteria are a PhD or equivalent in a relevant area of
archaeology/prehistory; a strong demonstrated interest in and commitment to
developing high quality teaching programmes in Australian archaeology,
including field and practical work skills; the ability to supervise Honours
and Postgraduate research students; demonstrated expertise in
archaeological fieldwork practice; and a solid research record in
Australian archaeology. Also essential are competency in administrative
skills relevant to a university department and the qualities needed to work
well with a diverse group of colleagues, professional archaeologists and
community groups on and off campus.
The position is full-time continuing, subject to the completion of a
satisfactory probation and/or confirmation period for new appointees.
Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of
employment.

Remuneration Package: $69,770 - $82,845 p.a. (which includes a base salary
Lecturer Level B $58,957 - $70,012 p.a., leave loading and up to 17%
employers contribution to superannuation).
