Hi Quaternarists,
The following position may be of interest to some from the Quaternary field. Much of the research work we are doing at HKU invloves recent uplift and climate change in the Tibetan Plateau, particularly on lakes and dunes. Those with an interest in alpine geology, tectonics and quaternary climate change are encouraged to apply.

Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Earth Sciences

Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Earth Sciences, tenable on or before July 31, 2007, for a period of 2 years. 

The Department of Earth Sciences has a strong emphasis on geodynamics with a strong collaborative team working on the development of the Tibetan Plateau (http://147.8.150.91/tibpage.html). Information about the Department can be obtained at http://www3.hku.hk/earthsci/. 

Applicants should be doctoral degree holders having undertaken original research that has contributed to the body of knowledge. The appointee should have expertise in fields relevant to the uplift of the Tibetan Plateau and potential links to global climate change. He/She is expected to devote full-time to research and bring new impetus and vigour to the University's research enterprise. 

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. Annual leave and medical/dental benefits will be provided.
