Hello again folks
a little follow-up on the chevron story..
Two original articles on this stuff from the New York Times may be found
at:
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/11/14/science/14WAVE.html
On this site you will find a small globe graphic. Open it and you will see
locations of chevrons around the world, and examples of "chevrons" in
Madagasgar.
and see also
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/11/17/science/17askscience.html
and if you want to look at a "chevron" or two, Sandra Blakeslee of the
Science Times (in the NY Times) provided these coordinates in Madagasgar
in repsonse to a readers enquiry:
A: On Google Earth, one good chevron is at 25 degrees 16 ’ 49.72" South
and 44 degrees 40’ 57.42" East. Altitude 13.85 miles.
When I visited that location I found a very nice set of parabolic dunes
(which do of course approximate upside-down chevrons....).
cheers
patrick
