>Dear fellow Quaternarists,
>
>As you probably know by now, we are planning a bumper issue of Quaternary
>Australasia to come out in time for INQUA, and will have copies available
>to the international participants in Cairns. I'm hoping the issue will
>inform the Quaternary world about the active community in this region.

I would like to solicit contributions from the New Zealand contingent for
this issue. Submissions from Australia have been impressive, but I would
also very much like to include work that highlights the trans-Tasman scope
of AQUA. Contributions can include reports, interviews, and thesis
abstracts. Perhaps someone would like to comment on the recent OZ-INTIMATE
meeting in Kaikoura in December last year?

I'm also hoping to include some short research papers. Quaternary
Australasia has in the past provided an excellent forum for students in
particular to have their work published, and I am hoping that this
particular issue, which will have a wider than usual distribution thanks to
INQUA, will provide an incentive for people (especially students) to
consider QA. QA is suitable for a paper of national or local importance
that may not be suitable for an international audience. Papers published in
QA are peer-reviewed, although the cut-off date for submitting research
papers is quite soon.

>Please don't hesitate to contact me if you would be interested in
>contributing, or if you know of any students (including recently completed
>Honours students) who may not be aware of QA and could be encouraged to
>submit their work. Likewise, if anyone would like to publicise any of
>their recently published papers or books, please let me know.
>
>Thanks,
>Kat Fitzsimmons.
