Dear AQUA community,

For your information regarding NCCARF - Terrerstrial Biodiversity
Network and funding opportunities. Cheers, Simon

-----------------------

Hi Everyone,

The first NCCARF Terrestrial Biodiversity Network steering committee
meeting and NCCARF convenors meeting were held in Brisbane at the end of
February and clarifications on many points were made.

Firstly we would like to clarify that participation in this network is
open to everyone and I have attached an Invite letter if you know of
other researchers, students and end-users. PLEASE forward this letter to
anyone that you think would be interested in join this network but they
must send me an email requesting to join before they can be added to the
list.

*PhD student collaboration travel grants*

A total of 10 grants are available for PhD students to visit and
collaborate with national labs and research centre’s in order to help
them to gain skills not provided in their own research environment.
Applications up to a *maximum of $3000* are welcome at anytime, please
find the application form attached – PhD Funding –NCCARF TB . Forms must
be sent to yvette.williams at jcu.edu.au

*What is the National Adaptation Research Plan (NARP) implementation
process for funding of priority research areas in Terrestrial
Biodiversity? *

As most of you know when the announcement was made for the funding of
this NCCARF facility and the 8 networks, a promise of $30 million in
research funding was also made. The research funding will be to Priority
research areas which have been identified in the National Adaptation
Research Plan (NARP). For the NCCARF - Terrestrial Biodiversity Network
this plan is still currently being finalised however it is hoped that
this process will be complete by May. As soon as this NARP is available
we will send it to the network participants.

The call for Expressions of Interest for the Terrestrial Biodiversity
Network will be about mid-year (no date given, will depend on
finalisation of NARP).

The funding process is listed below:

1) Open call for expression of Interest (EOI- 2 pages only)

2) NCCARF – Terrestrial Biodiversity Network to advertise and promote

3) Science review panel (SRP) to review EOI & identify
opportunities for collaboration

4) EOIs which are successful will be asked to submit a full proposal

5) NCCARF works with EOI submitters to develop full research
proposal based on recommendations of SRP, with support of network

6) Full proposals reviewed by SRP, NCCARF recommendation to
Department of Climate Change

7) DCC reviews for value for money, recommendations to Minster.

NCCARF has requested that this funding could be used for co-contribution
as acceptable ARC –linkage funding but they are still waiting on the
decision for this from ARC.

*JOB with TB Network*

Finally a job in GIS data Management is available with the NCCARF –
Terrestrial Biodiversity network. I have attached the advertisement for
anyone that is interested.

Many Thanks Yvette Williams
