17th International Congress of Speleology

Early Bird Registration closes on 31 January 2017. Details are available on the main conference website https://www.speleo2017.com <https://www.speleo2017.com/>. To date, overseas registrations are outnumbering the local ones.

For Australian and New Zealand participants, this is a rare opportunity to attend an ICS and meet cavers and cave scientists from other countries, without having to organise travel half way around the globe. Another local opportunity like this is most unlikely to occur for a long time.

All proposed presentations should be related to speleology, but can be on any scientific, technical, cultural or educational aspect. Details of sessions are available on the conference website. The abstract submission deadline has been extended to Monday 19th December 2016. This will be the only extension. Abstract submissions will continue to be accepted through the online registration site (https://conference.speleo2017.com <https://conference.speleo2017.com/>) until 19th December.

The broad congress program will cater for cave managers and guides, cavers, cave scientists, gear freaks and armchair cavers as well as partners and children. In addition to the formal presentations, there will be competitive events (film, video, photographic, map and speleo-art competitions), social events, excursions and field trips. The field trips are being offered to karst areas in every Australian state as well as in New Zealand and will cover the spectrum from show caves through stunning wild caves to hard-core vertical and cave diving trips. In short, the congress is aimed at everyone who has an interest in caves and karst.

Please don’t delay in booking your accommodation for the conference as the nearby accommodation may fill up quickly. You will need to do this independently.
