Dear All,

on behalf of the organising committee, this is a reminder that the abstract
submission deadline for the Australian Earth Sciences Convention is looming
on February 15th. The conference will be held in Adelaide from 26-30 June,
2016.

In addition to the Quaternary session previously advertised by John Tibby,
I'd like to draw your attention to the traditional Sprigg Symposium, a day
long event which this year has the theme 'Earth's Evolving Climate'. The
plan is to hold sessions covering the whole spectrum of Earth's climate to
modern day, beginning with a Keynote by Prof. Paul Hoffman of Snowball
Earth fame.

I know it's late notice, but I've just had confirmation from Beach Energy
Ltd. - the company founded by Reg Sprigg - that they will offer $500 each
to two early career researchers (current PhD students, or those within 8
years of PhD completion excluding career breaks) to support their travel so
that they might present at the symposium. If this is of interest to anyone
on this mailing list, please do send me a c.v. and abstract as soon as
possible and the organising committee will select the best candidates.

Of course, if anyone else would like to attend or present at the symposium,
both oral and poster presentations would be more than welcome. In which
case, please don't forget to submit an abstract before the deadline.

Abstract submission can be achieved here:

Likewise, please do forward this email to any non-Quaternary colleagues who
you think might be interested. The AESC will immediately precede the
'Palaeo Down Under 2' palaeontology conference in Adelaide the following
week, so some might be interested in catching both conferences in one
trip.

Thanks and best wishes, and hopefully look forward to seeing you in
Adelaide.
