Hi AQUA (and specifically anyone who identifies as an early-career researcher!),

The PAGES Early Career Network<http://pastglobalchanges.org/ecn/intro> is currently seeking one or more new Regional Representatives for Oceania so this is an invite for you to apply. The ECN is a very active international group of early-career palaeoclimate scientists. The group has hundreds of members worldwide, and since its inception in 2017 has done a lot to support early-career palaeoclimate researchers. This includes running (funded) workshops, organising webinars<https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnDs_RxOvXZ3nGG6Omm16qA>, running a blog, organising meetings and catch-ups for ERCs at conferences all over the world, and actively contributing to PAGES (and other) scientific working groups. The PAGES ECN also works with other early-career groups, including the INQUA ECR group, and various climate-related disciplines. A list of activities to date can be found here: http://pastglobalchanges.org/ecn/meetings

The ECN is run by a small group of early-career scientists, and is supported by Regional Representatives who help out with the flow of information between PAGES and ECN members around the globe. Until now I have been the Regional Rep for Oceania, but have recently moved to the US and so we’re looking for one or more new regional reps from Australia and/or New Zealand. It’s a great gig, and I’ve met some really wonderful people (at all career levels) through my interactions with PAGES (and now even have a very PAGES-related postdoc!). I think that it would also be valuable for AQUA to keep strengthening ties with the international community, and the early-career stage is the best place to do this.

If you are interested in joining on as a regional rep, then please send an email to pages.ecn at gmail.com<mailto:pages.ecn at gmail.com>. Or if you have any questions first then please feel free to shoot me an email 😊

All the best from snowy St. Louis,
