The main task of the position will be to aid in publication of a large backlog of existing data and co-authorship on all products is assured.
This position would suit someone with suitable skills who is looking to beef up their CV over a 4-month period.
The salary will be scaled to the applicant's experience (i.e. PhD or no PhD) and will range between $15-20K (Gross Salary) for the 4 month (16 week) contract.
I hope to have the position filled by November 1st, 2019.
The successful applicant will have the following skillset:
1. Knowledge or and familiarity with palynology and palaeoecology;
2. Excellent and timely writing skills;
3. Understanding and use of Tilia;
4. Understanding and use of R for age-depth model development - proficiency with the Rioja package would also be good;
5. Understanding and ability to conduct multivariate analyses, such as PCA, DCA, etc.;
6. Ability to manage and organise large multivariate datasets;
Preference will be given to people residing or willing to relocate to Melbourne. I am open to shifting the ratio of days to length of contract for a suitable applicant who wants a longer or shorter contract within the constraints of the overall budget (e.g. 0.8FTE for 3 months). I am also open to employing an excellent candidate located outside of Melbourne.
If you are interested, please contact me on this email address (michael.fletcher at unimelb.edu.au<mailto:michael.fletcher at unimelb.edu.au>) with the name and contact details of two referees that can speak to your suitability for the position (i.e. the above skillset).
Shortlisted applicants will be asked to submit an example of their writing (please do not send this now).
