Hi All,
Please share this amazing booklet as far and wide as you can.
Indigenous Plant Use by Barkandji woman Zena Cumpston from the School of Ecosystem and Forest Sciences.
It is for families, schools, community groups. Download it and get out in your garden today!
Such a powerful statement about the depth of knowledge in the Kulin Nations.
Indigenous plant use
In 2019, the University of Melbourne was transformed by the breathtaking influx of 40,000 Kulin Nation plants as part of the Indigenous-led event, The Living Pavilion.
These plants were accompanied by signs, carefully researched and curated by Barkandji woman Zena Cumpston, which articulated the plants from an Aboriginal perspective and explored their cultural, nutritional, technological and medicinal use.
The plant research was so popular that many participants contacted Zena wanting to access the information. The new 'Indigenous plant use' booklet was created so people could continue learning.
In the booklet, you'll find information on more than 50 indigenous plant species displayed on labels that you can print and use in your own garden.
