The successful candidate will be part of a team working on the establishment of an Australian pollen trapping network so that we might gain a better understanding of what our pollen assemblages 'really' mean in terms of landscape change. The successful candidate will work closely with Associate Professor Janelle Stevenson at ANU, Dr Cassandra Rowe at James Cook University and Dr Tahlia Perry (citizen science) at Adelaide University as well as palaeoecological researchers within the Centre of Excellence and beyond. The postdoc/research fellow will spend 50% of their time on the trapping network initiative and the other 50% on a project of their choosing. They will be involved in the design of the pollen trapping project and be responsible for a diverse range of fieldwork and research activities including the deployment, collection and management of data, as well as liaising with external stakeholders, including school and community outreach programs.


Our ideal candidate will hold a PhD in palaeoecology or other relevant field (or be awarded a PhD within six months of appointment) and will have a track record of independent research, publications in peer-reviewed journals, be prepared to travel, as well as demonstrate that they can work effectively within a diverse team setting. Strong numerical skills are also desirable.
