Hi AQUA,
Something I hope will be useful to some of you: I've just published a new dataset of monthly precipitation δ2H, δ18O, and deuterium excess values over the entire Australian continent (1962-2023), estimated from available observations using random forests.
This should be useful if you need precipitation isotope data from a place far away from a GNIP station. Particularly if you want a time dimension, where previously we've only had an estimate of the long-term mean.
Details are in this paper, including full breakdown of the model skill: https://hess.copernicus.org/articles/30/289/2026/
I've made a website - the Australian Precipitation Isotopes Calculator - where you can enter a lat and lon then download a csv of values at your location of choice: https://wateriso-aus.shinyapps.io/apic/
Full outputs available in netcdf format here: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.15486277
Please get in touch if you have any questions.
Best,
Georgy
