Scholarly Information Services/Library, as part of its Electronic
Access Program, has taken out a subscription to the Chinese-language
database "Chinese Academic Journals Online (CAJ Online)".  CAJ Online
is a web-based database offering access to full-text journal articles
from some 6,600 titles from 9 separate subject categories.  ANU's
subscription is to 3 subject categories in the humanities and social
sciences fields, covering some 1,130 journal titles.  Topics covered
include: Literature, History, Philosophy, Economics, Politics, Law,
Education and Social Sciences.  The subscription covers articles
published in 2001 and 2002.

Staff and students can access this Chinese-language database from any
Windows computer on the ANU network or via authenticated login through
ANU's Reverse Proxy Login at http://virtual.anu.edu.au/login.

Since this is a Chinese-language database, using GB codes, there are
certain technical requirements.  Users will require a Windows PC with
Chinese-language input and viewing capabilities. The site is optimised
for Internet Explorer 5 or above. Access via Netscape may be
problematic. Users will need to download a free viewer in order to read
full-text articles.  More information on technical requirements can be

To log into CAJ Online please go to the SIS/Library website's list of
Databases at http://anulib.anu.edu.au/databases/.  CAJ Online is listed
alphabetically under "Chinese Academic Journals Online".  

The Menzies Building of the Library has an appropriately configured
public machine from which to access this database.
