This conference is a part of a series of events hosted by the Island
Southeast Asia Centre along the theme of /Intersections of Area, Media
and Cultural Studies/ which aim to critically question the established
understanding of, and the relationship between, these three studies,
with Southeast Asian region as the object of investigation. This
semester's conference, on "Creative Industries, Youth Culture and
Identity Politics in Southeast Asia" is a seminal attempt to explore
issues and debate on cultural production in the context of cultural
industries and identity politics both within and outside the region. The
