and celebration of AETA's 35th Anniversary

John is a former deputy premier of Victoria, and now Chair of the Monash
Sustainability Institute. In 2008 - 2009, John was a special adviser to the
Timor-Leste Minister for Infrastructure and helped develop an Infrastructure
plan for Timor-Leste.

* Nov 28 is the day in 1975 that the East Timorese liberation movement made
a unilateral declaration of independence to establish the Democratic
Republic of East Timor. The military of the Republic of Indonesia launched
their full scale invasion nine days later on the 7th December 1975.
