State, Society and Governance in Melanesia (SSGM) is a vibrant multi-disciplinary research unit, in the School of International, Political and Strategic Studies in the College of Asia and the Pacific. It is the leading international centre for applied research into contemporary governance issues in Melanesia. The program is funded in part from the Operating Grant and in part from external funds.
SSGM seeks to appoint up to two early to mid career social scientists who have ongoing research interests in either Timor Leste or Vanuatu. The appointee(s) will be expected to conduct independent applied research in a multi-disciplinary research environment, publish in peer-reviewed journals and for a broader policy audience, contribute to SSGM's teaching program and to its extensive outreach program, which seeks to bridge the gap between academic and policy-making communities in Australia and the region.
Women are encouraged to apply.
