Dear friends and colleagues
I was very sad to hear of James' passing and I offer my sympathies to those who were close to him.Sara, thank you for the information and Michael for the TSLA tribute you paid. 
I first met James in the early days of TLSA in Dili, and connected immediately on all things 'Lospalos'. I didn't meet him too many times after that, but I really valued James' work, his generosity with his time and knowledge and just loved James' quick wit and great company. May he rest in peace.Clíonadh

I'm truly sad to read the news of James Scambary's passing. I did not know him but I read his work avidly. He wrote beautifully. His analyses of conflict and communal violence in Timor-Leste were ground-breaking and showed deep understanding and empathy.  We have lost a scholar of the highest quality.
