Dear TLSA list members,
Some of you may be aware that our dear friend and colleague, Dr Helen Hill, the long-term Timor-Leste solidarity activist, researcher, development studies academic, and co-founder of the TLSA, is gravely unwell in Melbourne.
For those who wish to send email messages of support to Helen, please send them direct to: Dr Helen M. Hill <helen.hill at email.com>
Please cc Jean McLean, who will ensure Helen receives them: <jeanmclean200 at gmail.com>
On behalf of the TLSA, I wish to acknowledge Helen as a founding figure of both Australia-Timor-Leste solidarity, and of Timor-Leste Studies. Helen has been a deeply inspiring and influential figure for many of us, and indeed for generations of Timorese and Australians alike. I needn't tell many on this list how enormous Helen's activist, academic and policy contributions have been over the years, from 1974 to the present.
She is, of course, above all, a dear friend and colleague to many of us. Our thoughts are with Helen, and family, at this time.
Michael
