The Department of Science, Technology and Society at the University of
Virginia is seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate
beginning Fall 2007.  The position will involve a combination of assisting
Professor Deborah G. Johnson with her research, engaging in collaborative
research, and doing independent research.  A good deal of effort will be
devoted to developing grant proposals.  The appointment will initially be
for one year with the possibility of renewal for a second year.  The salary
will be $45,000 and some funds will be available for travel to conferences
and workshops.

Qualifications:  The ideal candidate will be a strong writer and have an
interest in several of the following research areas:  technology, ethics,
and values; technology policy; information technology, ethics, and values;
engineering ethics; technology and democracy; agency and technology;
privacy and surveillance; and, gender and technology.  All requirements for
the PhD must be completed prior to the start date.
