STUDENT PRIZE CLOSES NEXT WEEK
Student Prize for Australian Environmental History 2009
Submissions are being invited for the National Museum of Australia Student Prize for Australian Environmental History 2009.The National Museum of Australia and the Australian Academy of Science's National Committee for History and Philosophy of Science jointly award an annual prize for the best student essay in the History of Australian Science or Australian Environmental History. The prizes are awarded in alternate years in May, with the history of science prize being offered in even-numbered years and the environmental history prize in odd-numbered years. The prize is a certificate and $2500 (AUD).
The closing date for submissions is 27 February 2009.
For application details: http://www.nma.gov.au/research/graduate_programs/student_prize_applications/
Note that the prize requires that applicants undertook the RESEARCH for the essay as students, not that they are currently enrolled students. You just have to show that you undertook the research while you were a student (at any level at any university). An academic supervisor should endorse this, if you are not currently enrolled.
Judges are looking for contributions to Australian environmental history, but a comparative approach that includes environmental history from other places is also acceptable.
