Dear HDR students in the interpretivist community,

A friendly reminder that our monthly Conversation Over Coffee is tomorrow (Friday 1st April) 12 noon at Street Theatre Cafe on campus.

Theme to kick off our discussion this month is to think about the way the case for interpretivist social science is made: for which audience? And, what are the stakes? These questions are inspired by a dialogue between Mark Bevir & Jason Blakely, Lisa Wedeen and Peregrine Schwartz-Shea - published in 2019 in Critical Review vol. 31 no. 3-4, pp. 462-501. The dialogue discusses Mark Bevir & Jason Blakely's book Interpretive Social Science: An Anti-naturalist Approach. If you're unfamiliar with this book, Bevir & Blakely give a great quick summary in their response in Critical Review as above.

Apologies, I did not realise the links contained in our previous invitation may have created havoc for readability for some! Hopefully this is much simpler. All resources mentioned are available in ANU library.

As usual, it will be a causal discussion, where you can bring questions about things you've been thinking through in your own research to the group, and suggest topics you'd like to see in future months.

Hope to see you there.

Kind regards,
Christie Woodhouse
