Dear IMC-ers and the student community at ANU,

I would like to invite all those who are interested to the Climate Justice Speakout tomorrow at Kambri (ANU) at 2 pm. We will be raising our demands for greater climate action in Australia; divestment from fossil fuel companies at ANU; climate justice for the First Nations people in Australia and the most vulnerable countries in the Global South (through debt relief and reparations). We will have some students, academics and Indigenous activists speaking at the event.

As most of you know, 33 million lives have been affected by the recent floods in Pakistan - more than the entire population of Australia combined. For those interested, I am also attaching a link to a fascinating discussion on Climate Reparations and Coloniality in the context of Pakistan - including Pakistani and American scholars and CodePink activists.

There is also another upcoming online conference on Climate Coloniality at the University of Hamburg for those who are interested - 22nd November. The keynote is from Dr. Farhana Sultan, who has also written much in the context of Pakistan and climate coloniality more broadly. We have a diverse range of scholars, speaking to multiple contexts, in this conference.

Finally, some of us will be working to organize a similar hybrid or online discussion panel at ANU in the coming weeks. For those who are interested in this space, please do reach out to me.

Thanks so much!
