I tell you what, if they (re)introduced it in Sydney I'd be THRILLED!  I'd 
probably easily make a good $30 odd a week, and with that as an incentive, 
probably a lot more.

AloCan collecting isn't worth the effort these days as the rate is less 
than 5 cents per can, (about 5 cents per 100 cans) and there are so few 
collection centres open long enough to actually get to.

Sad really.  Use to make good money as a kid collecting cans.  Trailing 
them down on my pushbike-trailer and cashing in.  I think I use to make 
around $20-30 a week until they dropped the return price and it was more 
effort than it was worth.
