Not sure if you are asking for .au or .com.au.

Serious usage of .au came later. I was at DeakinU during 1987-1989 and was
ash at charlie.oz. A 1987 reference shows the many ways to reach someone (see

Until 1989 from Usenet posts I can see that we were still using plain old
.oz but I found a post from March 1990 when I was showing both .oz and
.oz.au addresses.

The .au was used increasingly as we left ACSnet and became part of the
global community via AARNet in 1990.
