What I don't understand is why email clients aren't smart enough to 
automatically delete user and mail list signatures, remove all 
"disclaimers" as they are meaningless on mail lists anyway, automatically 
jump to display the end of the message or the section where the last date 
and time was relevant, provided there is no insert quoting.

Oh - of course.  Human interaction!  If we had the above, then our 
computers could write the mail for us and we'd just watch!
