While one part of the world is trying to stop people from 
copying and archiving data, another is worried about how we are going
to access it all in the years to come:

Found this on slashdot. It's an old discussion, but an important 
one.   Perhaps all these stupid dinosaur media companies should change
their focus from preventing the copying of content to that of 
ensuring its long term availability.

Think about how much music is created in the digital realm - some of it 
is never stored in any other medium.  Unlike the 78's of yesteryear 
which are still tentatively capable of being used and then transferred
to other media, digital content doesn't have such long term storage 
and archival capabilities....
