I have a digital camera with a 12:1 zeiss zoom lens with an
electronic image stabilser. It looks like an ordinary camera. No huge
lens sticking out the front. I think I can get a good image of number
plates from over 200 metres. I could certainly pick up details on a
name tag from 30 metres. Not that I've tried. I've got lots of
pictures of grandchildren, birds, lizards and insects though.
