Something that I'm finding very interesting is the work that Brendan 
Gregg has done with making javascript traceable with DTrace. He has a 
writeup at http://blogs.sun.com/brendan/entry/dtrace_meets_javascript

Of course you need (at least) Solaris 10 to run it, but it's definitely 
interesting.
