dunno if it's still the case (i haven't tried registering one for
years), but unofficial policy for several years was that .org.au
requests were just silently ignored...

this may have changed now that kre is out of the picture. after all,
domain names are now about extracting monopoly rents, not about
providing a directory service for the internet.

.asn.au was created to replace .org.au, and there's no point in doing
that if .org.au registrations are still being processed.
