This seems to apply to a LOT of issues. People seem  to forget that the IT
field advances very rapidly, and their "knowledge" of what is and isn't
possible goes out of date very quickly.

In another thread today, for instance, one Linker talked about how
"difficult" it was to register a .org.au domain -- when it's now just as
straightforward as any other domain (provided you meet the criteria for an
org). It turns out, yes, his or her knowledge was from some years ago.

Another example might be someone trying to install Red Hat Linux 7.3 a few
years ago, using an old 486 as their test bed, and basing their assumptions
about Linux on that experience.
