IMO, Trujillo was hired specifically to bring down the telstra share
price so that institutional investors could get a T3 bargain. as soon as
it's sold, all the troubles with the ACCC will be magically resolved,
the govt will give the ACCC a severe kicking (they must be itching to
do that to those commie bastards who are unfortunately needed for the
moment), and the share price will head back up.

why would "Honest" John applaud that - Trujillo is doing exactly as
instructed.
IMO, the supposed hostility between them is a carefully choreographed
act.

exactly. one or two stuff-ups could be expected and wouldn't even
necessarily indicate incompetence, just bad luck. a repeat pattern
of them - with the same result, a drop in share price, each time -
indicates conspiracy.

i don't think many (if any) have any loyalty towards telstra.
loyalty towards the idea of publicly-owned telecomms infrastructure,
though, is another thing.
IMO, telstra should be split into infrastructure (i.e. maintainence and
wholesale) and sales & marketing. infrastructure should stay in public
hands, and S & M can compete for business along with all the others. of
course, that wont and cant happen now.
