This follows on from Glenn's comments about Telcos and entertainment....
There are probably a few forces at play here...the traditional
entertainment people (Film/CD/Cinemas/TV) are discovering that people
aren't watching their products anymore...fuel for spats with mega$tars
Tom Cruise and Mel Gibson...including Sony
Handset people want to flog their new devices..inluding new network
equipment...including Sony Ericson
Telcos may have excess bandwidth...or be buying more infrastructure.
Lastly, from my experience Video is compelling...adding motion and sound
adds multiple dimensions to a still image. But this is now at the
personal level....and I suspect Telstra's phone idol will do better.
At the moment the mobile phone video formats/patents/licensing has been
standardised which hasn't happened on the Internet yet...
