Preservation of data is also an issue in the public service. National
Archives of Australia asked the ANU to provide courses for public
servants on what to do with digital data. This resulted in "System
Approach to Management of Government Information"
This should also be of use to research organisations, particularly
those subject to the state and federal archive laws. Researchers at
government organisations need to keep in mind that unauthorized
deletion of data is not just unfortunate: it is a crime.
