I saw that one, updated libtmp and Amarok, but still no dice. :-( I think I'll contact Ted though and see if he can offer any suggestions.

Marghanita and Rick, the Tuxmobil site looks good, but it doesn't mention the Clix. We have an iRiver H10 which works perfectly under Linux and it was that experience that lulled me - stupidly - into a false sense of security with the Clix. There may be some good resources there, though, which I'll check out.

Alan, Qumu looks interesting but from what I gather the problem is that iRiver have broken the way that the Clix is detected on the USB bus, so I doubt that it would help. 

Damn - I'm sounding very negative - my apologies. I appreciate your help very much. I'll check them all and get back to you. :-)
