they do have a choice. even if they're otherwise unemployable, they
could be doing something a lot more respectable and ethical than
telemarketing, like prostitution or drug dealing.

PS: no, this is not a flippant joke. i *do* consider both prostitution
and drug-dealing to be far more ethical and respectable than
telemarketing. at least those two jobs don't involve forcing themselves
on the unwilling.
