Picking up on one point...

A problem is that the OLPC group has aligned itself with a more general 
article of faith in the IT community, that you can't have a good 
education without lots of PCs. This puts in the hands of the 'pro' camp 
a simple but much-used rhetorical tool: if you're not in favour of the 
OLPC project, you're not in favour of education for the third world.

PCs may be desirable to some parts of education, but that does not make 
the PC indispensable to education.
