What do you expect!  Aussie IT people, most of them anyway, aren't real IT 
people.  They are "Drag and Droppers" and the result is, the best IT people 
aren't working in the country (or for the ocuntry) any more.

No surprise a project of this nature blew out it's budget.  This was one of 
the reasons I retired from IT R&D.  I got sick of putting in quotes for a 
lousy $20 an hour over 6 months, and quoting hardware below my cost, only 
to be undercut by someone else.

12 months later I get a call from the "client" asking if I can come in and 
fix the $200,000, now $500,000 project as the tender winner wasn't quite up 
to par and blew their budget.  Then they have the nerve to ask me if I'd be 
willing to accept $10-$15 an hour, on 12 hour days, for whatever time is 
needed to make all the miss matched hardware work.

Do I get a budget to replace the useless hardware?  Goodness no.  Because 
I'm known as the guy that can "make apples into roast beef."

It's no surprise Qantas has been hit with negligence on it's part and the 
part of it's "contractors."

I'm a so tired of hearing the whinging after the failure has been discovered.

Maybe I should go back into IT for 6 months, sounds like these days I could 
make $500 an hour.

And in 1992, the Opera House had me for $22 an hour on a project, allocated 
me to all kinds of other things, then hired a guy for $120 and hour and 
demanded I teach this guy about LAN topology, how to install network cards 
and to take over my job.

No surprise when I left the phone rang offering me considerably large Daily 
sums of money to return.

Nup.
