Yep, i was playing with Automator this morning (i just started a new job
on monday and have an imac G5 on my desk). it's pretty cool. and seems to be
capable of most or all of the things i do routinely on the command line.
i ended up writing a tiny shell script to do what i wanted (rename a
whole bunch of files in a directory) because it was faster and easier
for me to do that than point and click....but i can see it would be very
useful for people who aren't so comfortable with the command line and
scripting.
i like OS X - IMO, it's the ideal desktop OS for non-geeks, intuitive
and easy to use WITHOUT being dumbed down to the point of useless
imbecility, and WITHOUT being an insecure piece of garbage...but i've
always liked Mac's, ever since i was a mac programmer in the 80s.
i still prefer my linux desktop, though...but OS X comes in at a strong
second place.
