Sorry for being a pedant here, but I believe that the correct word is  
'affect', and it is beginning to bother me that a subject line AND  
comment can contain the same mistake...

I am trying to effect a change here, though I might be affected by  
the effect, especially if I'm not very effective.

Just don't get me started on affective impact... (my Psych days are  
long over)
