viruses/spam came much later....I was referring to the contribution to 
"end user" computing - usability/word processing/spreadsheets in 
particular.

Personally, I preferred a line editor and lotus 123. Not to mention 
those who still believe CPM was a better operating system. We could have 
a debate about Unix and proprietary operating systems also.

Unix has been around for a long time, I think the aspect of Linux we 
need to understand is open source and the Web/Internet is open 
standards/interoperability.
