Great anecdote: Lachlan Fairfax drops 500 million on One.Tel. Shortly
afterwards he kills ABR (Australian Book Review), retrenching all the
staff. One retrenchee meets the boy in the lift later. "Why did you kill
ABR?" he asks. "Oh, we had to", replies the lad, "it was costing us a
million a year". "Really?", replies the retrenchee, "So if you hadn't
screwed up at One.Tel you could have kept ABR going for the next 500
years...".
