Crikey has invited me to write a piece for tomorrow's edition expanding on
my blog post from earlier today and exploring the theme of "broken
promises".

My thanks to Roger Clarke for spotting the original "broken promise" ... but
are there any other key points that should be made?

I've mentioned the point that back in 1995 Australia was 3rd on the "most
wired country" list, but now isn't even in the top 10 -- but I haven't found
the reference yet. (Mind you, I've only just gotten back to my desk after
"earning a living", so I haven't started looking yet.) Do we know where that
figure came from? It was certainly something that back in the '95 Dot.com
boom we took as gospel.

I've only just started looking through the comments on the Raccoonan's
announcements yesterday... it really is a crock, isn't it!
