There is extensive coverage of this case on the web.
Google for his full name and you will see over 33,000 hits.

Wikipedia is a good starting point:

The entire travails of this poor sod has been followed by the
SMH from initial arrest in 1994. Oddly, using the archive search
facility at the SMH site, I cannot find anything on this guy.
But I have read articles in the SMH about the case. So I tried
google:

Hew Raymond Griffiths site:smh.com.au

Once again, Google comes up trumps compared to home-grown crap!

It is in the interests of Little Caesar to ensure (a) we are dumbed
down and uninformed (b) we cowtow to his (not our) American Masters
and (c) to lie and cajole and never tell the truth and (d) to make
an example of someone to show that something is being done.

It is a disgrace that this has been allowed to happen without any
debate or input from the government. But, we are flogging a dead horse,
aren't we?

I really do feel that personally I would be sold up the river by this
government and get no help either here or abroad if I got into hot
water - if their agenda did not include helping me, for political
purposes. Hey, what else is new? That is the path the corruption of
our political process and "democracy" has taken under the regime
of neo-conservatives.

This is not a petty crime. It is a serious crime in both this country
and the USA. If we think the law unjust, we will have to work to
change it. It is a law that was once civil, now criminal and
one that has increased in power and severity of penalty over the
past few years at the bequest of strong lobby groups. It is a
clear example of big multi-nationals pulling the legislative strings
of our milque-toast pollies to their own benefit. Strangely, we never
see similar legislation enacted to *our* ("the people's") benefit.
I guess we citizens just ain't very good at lobbying ... it costs
money, time and influence which we simply do not have.

It was claimed that $60 MILLION worth of theft occurred.
As James Morris pointed out on this list a few months back, that is a
ridiculous assertion that would be impossible to prove.

If Linkers recall, outrage was expressed and discussed about
a month ago on this same list.

Short memories?
