One discussion point I heard a few months ago, during the
"Big Broadband Debate" was that there is no point in having
huge bandwidth inside the country, if you are not supplying similar
bandwidth into and out of, the country.

One of the things that stops Australia being a Technology Corridor
is the size of that corridor. We need to invest more in infrastructure
that gives us a large amount of bandwidth for international projects
and customer facing services in and out of the country.

While ever we rely on the (relatively) small data pipes we have
over here, we're not a player, no matter what internal policies
and technology we have.

Also, we need more tech grants for R&D into grass roots stuff,
the kind of things that gave the world ebay and you_tube. We don't
do this to any great degree - it's all corporate based, but some of
our best minds are in the shed or the uni shared house and they're
missing out on fundingthat could see the next killer app.
