I will be talking on "Carbon Neutral Computing" in the Australian
Computer Society's Education Across the Nation Series in Perth, 15
April and Bunbury, 16 April 2008, Western Australia. Comments and
corrections would be welcome. The talk outline is
at <http://www.tomw.net.au/technology/it/carbon_neutral_computing/>.

Following this I will be in Brisbane 17 and 18 April talking to
people from the Queensland government and industry about green ICT
initiatives they are preparing. If there are any other Green ICT
initatives going on in Queensland I would like to hear about them.

At the moment there seem to be a lot of people who are seized with
the idea that they need to do something to combat climate change, but
are not exactly sure what to do. At the dentist, I noticed they had a
computer screen showing a screen saver display of fish swimming. This
is used occasionally to show digital x-rays, so , I suggested they
switch it off when not in use. Bit the computer is also used to
monitor the machine used to sterilize the equipment and turning that
off would risk patent safety. Working out if the screen can be
blanked out when not in use becomes a complex question.
