Yup, you don't need a iPhone to experience the 3G CarPark!  Any 3G 
phone will suffer the same, in fact so will any of those awesome 
'lightning fast' dongles you plug into your laptop to get 'mobile 
broadband anywhere at mega super speeds'

On average I see around 64kbps (that's kilo bites per second) in the 
UK, between 128 and 2048 in west Europe, the USA I haven't any 
measures for presently.

In Aus I can't say I've had any major speed issues with 3 or on the 
out of range times, Telstra.  3 is pretty awesome in Aus, Telstra 
picks up the ante with Mobile Broadband, however the price makes it 
unacceptable.

I had people stand next to me with iPhones whilst I use my mobile and 
we get the same speeds!

Nothing to do with hardware!

Yes well I'd not use Optus or Virgin in Australia anyway :)
