exacto. like the revelation today that the USA has been in recession
since last december, even though that was fully denied until a few weeks
ago.

Dunno about "Criminal" (which statute / law /code?) but certainly
corrupt and incompetent. <cynic>but remember, we are rewarded by the people
we vote in</cynic>.
