[LINK] ANAO report: Government Agencies' Management of their Websites

Most useful, BRD - given that I deal with at least two of those  
agencies frequently , and deliver web services to their staff, it's  
interesting that they haven't identified people like me who deliver  
web services that could otherwise be delivered through their sites.

The report's choice of definitions is interesting too - to me, a  
'website' is not at all restricted to one server, but they actually  
identify this as one parameter (albeit with the term 'generally').  
This in itself is an indicator of their thinking, along with the  
general premise that sites deliver services FROM agencies TO the  
external agents, whereas I'd argue that many deliver services to  
internal staff (from what I've observed).

The report also appears to be fixated on defining the purpose of a  
site - akin to trying to define a moving target when it comes to  
service provision and delivery,

Some interesting numbers from the report: "...six agencies had over 30  
sites, the sites
varied in size from 35 to 900 000 web‐pages, and had costs from $10  
000 to
$15  million  per  annum."

So this means that one website with 35 pages rolls in at $10K/annum,  
or $285 per page per year - and I assume that the 900,000-page site  
cost $15 million, or a paltry $17/page.

Good work if you can get it...
